Exciting News: Raffles and Lotteries now available with InstaGiv

We have some exciting news to announce from InstaGiv HQ. We have been working very hard developing our new raffles and lotteries via SMS service. We’ll be launching the amazing new feature very soon.

Following pressure from the Charity Sector and AIME networks, they have introduced a new range of shortcodes. Along with the approval of HMRC, these shortcodes (72xxx) will allow SMS entries for society lotteries and raffles to be vat exempt.

What will raffles and lotteries with InstaGiv mean?

Do you hold a weekly lottery for your charity? Why not use SMS as your donation collection mechanism. We will collect consent, postal addresses and donations – all you have to do is issue the tickets.

We’ll do all the hard work for you. InstaGiv will collect entries and payments via SMS. This will be done in the same way that donations are currently collected on the 70xxx shortcode range.

In addition, we can collect confirmation of eligibility and the player’s address. This will make it easy for the charity (or ELM) to issue each entrant with their lottery ticket and maintain compliance.

All data will be recorded and stored on your InstaGiv dashboard. This will allow you to easily download, pass the data to an ELM or integrate with your current lottery management system. InstaGiv is one of the UK’s leading providers of mobile and digital fundraising solutions. We currently work with over 500 UK charities and we cannot wait for our clients to use this exciting new feature.

How do raffles and lotteries work?

Society lotteries and raffles via SMS work like sending a donation by text, the individual enters the lottery or raffle by texting a keyword to a 72XXX approved shortcode. The five-digit society lottery shortcodes will be used to take payments from mobile phone accounts to pay for Society Lottery or Raffle tickets. We have developed a fully compliant SMS flow to capture all the information required about the supporter.

How Instagiv use marketing automation to grow their business

We got loads of questions on how our platform actually works after we posted our ‘A Day in the life of Instagiv’ blog post last week. We thought we’d take you behind the scenes again and explain exactly how we help our 300 charity clients.

Their all-in-one dashboard helps us integrate and unify our brand, as well as re-purpose content across all our marketing channels.

We often are asked how we create our colourful, bright and attractive landing pages, web pop-ups and social schedules. The answer is, it is all through Zymplify.

Their content creator lets us use our brand colours and develop marketing materials that are synonymous with our brand.

Without this platform, we must say that we would be well and truly lost! We are also able to schedule social posts to go out across all of our social channels two/three times daily, we can upload and cleanse email lists, create specified email campaigns with landing pages as well as post-entry pages and autoresponders.

Some other added benefits the software gives us include; the price, its simplicity and intuitiveness, the fact that it’s fully integrated, we can track our web visitors, build and develop our key personas and analyse our paid ads.

A day in the life of InstaGiv

Hi everyone, my name is Caitriona and I’m the Customer Service Manager here at Instagiv. As our blog grows, more and more people are tuning in to hear what we have to say. We thought it’d be fun to show you what exactly happens at Instagiv HQ. We often get questions like ‘What exactly does Instagiv do’ so we thought we’d show you exactly what we do.

8:30 am

Our office doesn’t open until 9, but I like to get in early and get myself organised with a cup of tea before I sit down to catch up on emails. Our office is situated in a lovely seaside town called Portstewart on the North Coast of Ireland. The area is pretty picturesque and the office is along the promenade. There are a number of gorgeous coffee shops, so if I’m feeling lazy I’ll get a takeout coffee as a treat.

The atmosphere every day at InstaGiv HQ is all things fundraising, engagement, charities, SMS giving, and the list goes on, so we have a lot to get done every day.

Our team are always busy looking after all aspects of the business with the most important focus being customer care.

10 am

After I catch up on emails and client queries, we have a team catch up once a week to make sure everyone is on the same page.

The amazing view from our wonderful conference room makes our team meetings so much better. The meetings are normally informal because we have a talented team of people who really work well together. However, when the whiteboard is in use, we know things mean business! That’s me telling the team about all the innovative and exciting up-coming projects that we have planned in the coming months -watch this space.

11:30 am

After a team catch-up, I’ll normally have a few calls scheduled for the rest of the morning. You’ll often find our Customer Service team with their head-sets on training new charities, onboarding clients, carrying out platform demos or holding weekly webinars with our existing clients.

Our team in Customer Service will tell you that that no two days are the same because we treat our clients as individuals and look at their specific needs, goals and requirements and create campaigns to suit their fundraising projects.

1 pm

It’s lunch time. Thankfully, we have a great office with loads of space to enjoy a relaxing lunch time. If I don’t go out for lunch, or take a walk along the beautiful promenade, you’ll find me in our ‘greenhouse’ playing a game of pool or catching up with work friends.

2:30 pm

It was a great idea for management to move our Finance office to the ground floor as I often liaise with our in-house accountant, Angela, with regards to client accounts. We work well as a team and have no issues in getting the job done! We’re in deep discussion here, making our way through our daily to-do list. One is for sure, our clients are never waiting for their out-payments.

4 pm 

We have a development team who work tirelessly developing our platform. Without these guys, we would all well and truly be lost.

Not only did they build our wonderful platforms, but they work every day in continuous improvement, making it better and better each day in meeting the needs of our ever-growing customer base.

I normally have something for them to do, so I’ll go upstairs for a quick catch-up, and normally stay for a quick cup of tea too.

4:45 pm

Our office closes at 5 pm, so before we lock up for the day I like to do a quick re-cap of what I’ve done and what I need to do tomorrow. Everyday is different here and that’s why I love my job. We have between 200-300 clients to look after every day, so we always have plenty to do.

June Newsletter: Another fantastic month for Instagiv

Welcome to the June newsletter, we have loads of exciting news to tell you! June was, yet again, another fantastic month for Instagiv and all of our charities. We have continued to grow and help our them raise an amazing amount of money for some of the UK’s best charities.

We’re delighted to say we welcomed 9 new charity clients in the last 30 days. We cannot wait to see them grow and use our services and software to raise lots of much-needed funds.

How much did we raise?

June 2018

We have consistently seen the number of outbound texts climb above 200,000 which is amazing! This is through our outbound SMS tool, which is something we would heavily encourage all clients to use. It has various different options and charities can send outbound texts such as donation requests, response requests, address requests or just standard text messages. Outbound SMS and Single Giving were our most popular products in June.

Quarterly meeting

We had our quarterly meeting last week, where we looked at Instagiv’s performance over the last 6 months and what we hope to achieve in the coming months. We are so proud to announce that Instagiv is growing rapidly every day, and we cannot wait to see where it will go in 2019. We also have some exciting news to share with you all in the next few months.

Why you Should Use our Mobile Look-up Tool

With InstaGiv, it is not just text donations and that’s it; we have so much more to offer our clients including Mobile Lookup.

We have a mobile fundraising and engagement platform with various tools and feature to help improve your SMS donation journey and aid the success of your campaigns.

One of our popular tools is Mobile Lookup. Our platform records the full history trail of each mobile number who engages or donates to your campaigns with InstaGiv. Mobile Lookup has proved to be very beneficial when you have incoming calls or queries from your donors.

People may ask if their donation has went through successfully, if you can tell them the date of their last regular gift, if their supporter text has been received and so on.

Rather than you sift through hundreds of texts on your inbound report, you can easily ask the individual for their mobile number and type it into the Mobile Lookup tool. All of their interactions will be displayed in a table form with details including, dates, times, donation amounts, inbound texts, outbound texts and much more. At Instagiv we use 70### short codes for charity donations. These are only used to receive donations and not to give away an item of monetary value.

A shortcode SMS marketing number allows an advertiser to communicate quickly and directly with mobile phones across the globe. They are used for many different things including marketing and advertising, as well as voting, quizzes and other competitions.

We have a number or SMS products available on our 70### short codes such as; Single Giving via SMS, Regular/Monthly Giving via SMS, Address collection, Event Fundraising and Registration keywords which have no donation attached.

We saw a gap for competitions via SMS so over the last few years, we introduced them as a service and they have proved to be very popular with our existing clients. These are not set up on our 70 short codes, they are on additional commercial codes that we have to offer.

Competitions can be set up by any registered charity, in a nut shell they work as follows;
– Entrant texts the competition keyword to the assigned short code
– They get a bounce back message acknowledging their entry and telling them that they can reply CANCEL within 1 hour to opt out of their voluntary donation
– If they reply CANCEL, their entry is still valid and they will get a bounce-back to let them know their donation has not been taken.
– If they do not reply CANCEL, their donation will be taken and again, they will get a bounce-back message to acknowledge this.

With Instagiv, clients can set up their competitions with a voluntary donation amount, edit their bounce-back message, enable Gift Aid, enable a winner mechanism and set a maximum amount of entries. With charity competitions, the donations will always be voluntary.
