5 Features of InstaGiv Mobile Fundraising & Engagement

Customisable response messages

For any text code you have, anyone who engages with or texts a donation will receive a bounce-back response message instantly. This is fully customisable by the charity, which is the perfect opportunity to thank your supporters for their donation and also drive more direct traffic to your website or social channels by inserting a live URL. People love the likes of visuals and videos, why not have a link to a video illustrating how their donation helps?

Consent Feature

Gather opt-ins from your donors with ease, using InstaGivs fully compliant consent feature. There are two modes for you to choose from; implicit and explicit. With both, you capture their consent preference at the point of donation. Some clients use this on single giving campaigns and then use our bulk outbound SMS tool, send a text to all opt-ins to upgrade them to a monthly gift. All consent preferences are recorded and stored on your InstaGiv account, any changes to these and STOP requests are updated in real-time by our system.

Real-time reporting

Reporting is essential when monitoring and measuring the success of your fundraising efforts. We have full inbound reports for all campaign types to give you an accurate overview of the progression status of your active campaigns. Our clients have highly commended our regular giving reporting for the level of detail it provides such as; the monthly breakdown of signups, donations, skips and new subscribers, subscriber donations by month, stop/skip charts, monthly attrition, retention rates and much more.

Multiple price points

Each of your donation keywords will be given an assigned price point; this means your donors do not have to write the amount in their text, the simple type the keyword and send. The amount you have assigned to that keyword, will therefore then be deducted from their phone bill or phone credit. With that said, there is flexibility, so your donors can donate more should they wish to, in this instance, they will then have to put the amount in their text. I.e. GIVE £10

We can facilitate price points that range from £1 to £20.

Sub Keywords

Our sub keyword mechanism allows you to create multiple campaigns under the one keyword. This means you can have separate attacks on your InstaGiv account at no additional cost. For example; keyword GIVE, sub-campaigns:  GIVE ONE, GIVE TWO and so on. As long as you have a new word behind the initial keyword to differentiate between them. This means separate reporting and separate totals per sub-campaign.

Our Competitions Feature enables charities to create their own SMS competitions as a way of reaching new donors.

This involves inviting supporters to text a keyword to a short code to be entered into a random draw. You can also ask them to answer a question with options (A,B,C) to make it a bit more competitive.

The instaGiv system can handle your competition from start to finish and will even automatically choose winners for you.

The ‘Pick a Winner’ mechanism will generate 3 random supporters to be the winners of your competition.

The GDPR, which comes into effect in May 2018, will see a huge change to data protection law.

Obtaining informed consent from supporters that you communicate with will become even more important.

Our Consent Feature allows you to easily gain permission from your supporters to communicate with them via SMS. It means you can invite them to participate in events, tell them about upcoming fundraising campaigns and let them know how their donation is making a difference.

The Consent Feature can be enabled on all of your campaigns. It allows donors to give the charity consent to contact them again when they first donate.

instaGiv makes Consent Compliance easy for charities

With the GDPR deadline looming ahead like a sort of data protection Godzilla, consent is fast becoming the hot topic in the charity sector.

At instaGiv we are working hard to facilitate compliance and respond to a growing range of approaches to obtaining consent.

Consent Compliance – Build Relationships with Your Supporters

If your charity intends to contact any existing supporter via text or other communication method, then it is essential that the proper consent be obtained. It’s good practise to obtain consent when you first engage with any potential donor.

Our Consent Feature allows you to gain permission from your supporters to communicate with them. It means you can invite them to participate in events, tell them about upcoming fundraising campaigns and let them know how their donation is making a difference.

The Consent Feature can be enabled on all of your campaigns. It allows donors to give the charity consent to contact them again when they first donate.

Following consultations with a number of key UK charities, we have built a custom consent feature into our platform, which covers both implicit and explicit consent.

When both are active, all opt-ins and opt-outs will be recorded on the platform and will appear in two separate lists. This means you will be fully compliant with the GDPR and it allows you to build better relationships with donors that have actively chosen to hear from you.

Consent Compliance – Implicit Consent

This feature allows a charity to obtain implicit consent to send further marketing. Recipients are already signed up for further communications but are given the option to opt-out.

An example of implicit consent in an SMS from a charity would be:

Text GIVE to 7XXXX to donate £5. We may contact you about this campaign and our charity. To give £5 but opt-out from further contact, reply GIVE NO to 7XXXX

Consent Compliance – Explicit Consent

This feature requires a supporter to state explicitly that they would like to receive further marketing communications.

An example of explicit consent in an SMS from a charity would be:

We’d love to stay in touch with updates about our charity. To give £5 & opt-in to allow us to contact you, reply GIVE YES. Otherwise reply with GIVE to 7XXXX

A Consent tab has now been added to the Create and Edit campaign pages on the instaGiv platform.

From there you can choose which form of consent to enable and which marketing channels you wish to include or exclude.
